SPRING 2016
1/5-15 Students in Latin II learned the use of the subjunctive verb in purpose and result clauses. Students studied the purpose clause and translated passages on the continuing saga of Salvius and Quintus. Students were also given two practice National Latin Exams. The National Latin Exam, a nationally recognized achievement test, will be administered on Wednesday, March 9 during the 3rd period. The test is a 40 minute test, so students will return to their regularly scheduled 3rd period class after the test.
1/20 Stage 26 Vocabulary Quiz. Students will learn the gerundive and the passive periphrastic construction. Students will work on their Roman military projects. Homework: Translate sentences 1, 2, 10, 13 on page 336.

11/30 Students will review the subjunctive verb forms in imperfect and pluperfect tenses. Students will review the use of the subjunctive in "cum" clauses and learn the use of the subjunctive in "indirect questions." Students will complete the translation of Strythio as a cloze reading exercise. Homework: ATL C p. 91
12/2 Students will practice identifying and translating subjunctive verbs in indirect questions. Translation "Modestus Custos" Students will begin cartoon caption assignment for the story. Students will create a 6 panel (minimum) cartoon telling the story of "Modestus Custos" with Latin captions for each frome. At least three of the captions will employ indirect questions. Project is due Tuesday 12/8 for a major assessment grade.
